Position summary

The library systems specialist supports the management of print and electronic serials throughout their lifecycle within the firm's integrated library system.

This role is responsible for maintaining library records, supporting acquisitions and routing processes, and ensuring the accuracy and availability of resources for attorneys and staff.

Working closely with the technical services librarian and team members, the specialist supports ongoing library systems and resource management activities, including reporting, vendor coordination, and data maintenance, to ensure efficient and reliable access to library resources.


Job duties and responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of continuing resources (print, serials, and electronic resources) within the firm's integrated library system
  • Maintain the lifecycle of digital serials to ensure accurate and current availability in the online catalog
  • Maintain routing lists for materials to ensure timely delivery of resources to attorneys
  • Generate reports related to serials usage and acquisitions
  • Manage electronic resource check-in, routing, and maintenance
  • Claim missing issues and coordinate with vendors as needed
  • Process invoices for major vendors, including Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg, and PACER
  • Support acquisitions through the integrated library system
  • Assist with data analysis and visualization projects
  • Support integrated library system and serials-related initiatives
  • Serve as backup support to department coordinators or analysts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • ALA-accredited master's degree in library science preferred

Experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience using an integrated library system

Experience with Softlink's Liberty library software preferred

Experience in a law firm or corporate library preferred

Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Familiarity with library systems and databases
  • Strong service orientation and ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

Pay ranges

This represents the presently anticipated low and high end of Reed Smith's pay range for this position. Actual pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location and experience.

This is a non-exempt position. The hourly wage range for this role is $32.45 to $36.06, with an estimated annual compensation range of $67,500 to $75,000, based on expected hours.
